Oasis Humanoid Story Sequence Empty
PostSubject: Oasis Humanoid Story Sequence   Oasis Humanoid Story Sequence Icon_minitimeWed Jul 25, 2007 1:41 pm

The humanoids have recently discovered a lone asteroid cruising through space which they intend to explore, due to an enigmatic crater (roughly the size of Japan) on its surface. They have named their discovery Oasis. This crater somehow sprouts life...forests, jungles, and a giant lake at the bottom. A recent collision of celestial bodies has awakened the dragonoids on the surface, which hold the secret to this source of life. They will die to protect it from invaders. The insectovoids have also been awakened, and they have come to the crust from beneath to devour the rich supplies in the crater.

Each class has human intelligence, and there are creatures called "convincibles" that have come from a portal in the planet's core. There are many mythical creatures, as well as earth-like mammals, which can be used for almost any purpose for any side. The player decides everything...whether to band the humanoids together with the dragonoids and fight off the insects, or vice-versa, or even more combinations. Everything is left up to choice. Now watch and see as worlds collide for...Oasis.

>>>On a side note, in the class system there are the three divisions of species. Then there are types of each species. Then there are seven levels of each type. And on each level, the characters advance by decimals (for example, a Soldier...Level 1 Footsoldier of the Humanoids, by the way...could be an individual character at level 5 out of 7. They would be listed as Level 1.5 Footsoldier). Confusing? Maybe there's a better way, but for now I'll incorporate this idea.

(Humanoid Story)

>>>There is a beginning description similar to the first story, only mainly from the humanoids' perspective and what they know. An image of Oasis is shown in the background during all this. Then, it fades to show a barren landscape. Suddenly, a squad of Moonsoldiers (Level 2 Humanoid Footsoldiers) dash up from the bottom. They scan the area, then move forward and stop. From downscreen comes a Colonel (Level 3 Humanoid Leader) named Marx.

Col. Marx: Any signs of danger?

Hawthorne (Moonsoldier): No sir. The place is dead silent.

Bennett (Moonsoldier): As if we could hear anything in space.

Simmons (Technician): We're kinda freaked out here, Bennett. It's not everyday you find an asteroid with a JUNGLE on it.
(Technicians are Level 1 Humanoid Operators)

Col. Marx: Anything could be over this ridge. We have to take maximum precautions.

Hawthorne: I'm getting enormous bio-signals. The only thing is, these scanners confuse vegetation with actual beings. Sucks for us, huh?

Bennett: Hey, as long as we don't get eaten by giant bugs or something.

>>>Right here, you can make the colonel's decision on who to send over the ridge first. You choose two soldiers from the following menu of units:

Col. Marx: Hmmm, I'll have to send two soldiers...
Hawthorne - Moonsoldier, Level 2.4 - White male, age 24, skills are Stealth and Firearms
Bennett - Moonsoldier, Level 2.5 - Black male, age 32, skills are Warrior and Firearms
Richardson - Moonsoldier, Level 2.4 - White female, age 26, skills are Firearms and Hand-to-Hand
Jiro - Moonsoldier, Level 2.5 - Asian male, age 30, skills are Sniper and Blade
Darkhart - Moonsoldier, Level 2.5 - White female, age 41, skills are Blade and Explosives

>>>Once you select which two to send, the units will automatically walk up to the cliff face and fire their cables.

Hawthorne (If selected): We'll report once we reach the other side, Colonel.

Bennett (If selected): All right, we'll let you know what's up.

Richardson (If selected): Thank you, Colonel. We'll get back to you when we arrive.

Jiro (If selected): It is an honor, sir. We will inform you of our status.

Darkhart (If selected): We'll give you the lowdown once we're there, sir.

>>>The two units ascend on their cables out of camera view.

Col. Marx: All right, let's wait for their update. Giovanni, get the supplies set up. We don't know what's out there.

>>>The scene ends for now.

>>>Hawthorne and Richardson are at the top of the cliff.

Hawthorne (breathless): Whew! What a climb!

Richardson (staring ahead, motionless): (hits Hawthorne)

Hawthorne: What was that fo...oh.

>>>Both of them stare at the incredible sight before them. A vast jungle fills the crater of the asteroid, stretching for miles. At the bottom was a huge lake. All sorts of creatures moved around making wild animal calls of different kinds in the lush atmosphere. Somehow, this part of the asteroid was shielded by an Earthlike atmosphere of oxygen. That meant the soldiers could take off their helmets. But they didn't want to chance it.

Richardson: It's...beautiful.

Hawthorne: I was thinking more along the lines of "impossible, am I going insane?", but yeah, sure, it's pretty.

Col. Marx (over radio): Hawthorne, Richardson, what's your position?

Richardson: We're at the top of the cliff, Colonel. You're not gonna believe this when you see it.

Hawthorne: Remember that jungle we saw in the crater, sir? Well, we're here.

Col. Marx: Any signs of immediate danger?

Richardson: Not apparently, sir. You guys are green to go.

Col. Marx: All right, we'll circle around the side and meet you at the bottom. If anything happens, radio me. Out.

Hawthorne: Okay, let's do this.

>>>They jump over the side of the cliff and slide down their cables. The view changes to show them at the base of the other side. They retract their cables and look around at the lush scenery.

Hawthorne: This is crazy. Do you know how crazy this is?

Richardson: Just try to stay focused, Hawthorne. We don't want you eaten alive while you're picking daisies.

Hawthorne: (salutes) Yes, ma'am! Anything you say, ma'am!

Richardson: (chuckles) Settle down. You're going to scare off the animals.

>>>In the brush, something moves. Both moonsoldiers remain still and scan the area.

Richardson: Predatory bioform, ten yards at eleven o' clock. You spot it?

Hawthorne: Yeah. He's stalking us.

>>>Suddenly, bushes all around them begin to move as a whole squad of the creatures creeps up on them. About ten total are moving from the underbrush.

Hawthorne: Uhhh, Richardson?

Richardson: Col. Marx! We need backup, ASAP!

Col. Marx: Roger that, sending in the drones.

Hawthorne: I sure hope they get here on time...

>>>Now gameplay begins. There's a board set up with ten monsters near the other side. They come out from the underbrush. They look similar to velociraptors, but have larger arms and longer snouts. They are a species yet to be named. You can name the species once you've come in contact with it, which in turn can be stored in your Journal. The two moonsoldiers are near the base of the board.
OBJECTIVE: Destroy all enemies.
This is gonna be tough with only two people, so you'll have to avoid getting boxed in until the cavalry arrives. A small window will come up, giving menu options. (The tutorial is an option on the main menu, which teaches everything the player needs to know about the system).
On this first map, the player can move its two units independently, since there is no commander at the scene. When a player goes up to an enemy, the option to fight appears. They will exchange hits based on their skills and strength. Each player has a health meter. When it runs out, the player dies. If both Hawthorne and Richardson die, the match is over and you have to restart (heehee!). Let both moonsoldiers fight at least one enemy each to build up experience credits.
After the first turn, a small creature will arrive on the lower-left corner of the grid. This is the first convincible you'll meet. It's a golden wolf. Have one of the characters walk over to it and use the "Tame" option on the menu, otherwise the unit will move independently and attack members of both sides.
Once the wolf is on your side, belonging to whoever picks it up, you can name it. Then it will stay with that character and can be summoned at will. Only one convincible per player is allowed per match. If the enemies get it first, they can use it against you.
After a few more turns, about five floating robots appear at the bottom. These are powerful drones that have mounted laser arms. You can now move them around with menu commands. It shouldn't be too much of a challenge to take out the rest of the creatures.
The first level is over! The rest of the moonsoldiers finally make it.

Col. Marx: So, you're both okay then.

Richardson: I suppose. Do us a favor, though...let's not split up again.

Col. Marx: We'll try to stay as a unit. I'll have the drones survey the area for further danger. Meanwhile, let's set up base camp.

Bennet: Cool place, huh?

Jiro: ..............

Bennet: Man, just think about it...the trees, the river...all this on an asteroid!

Jiro: ..............

Bennet: Okay then. Whatever.

Darkhart: Once you want me to blow up somethin', Colonel, you lemme know.

Col. Marx: Don't worry, Darkhart. You'll get your chance. Right now we're just trying to stay safe and avoid hostile life-forms.

Richardson: Maybe then we can do what we came to do...study the environment.

Simmons: Exactly my point! We don't have to be fighting 24/7...we can fill up our Journals with valuable informa-

Hawthorne: We get it, Simmons. Study the environment.

Col. Marx: All right, Giovanni's got the supplies. Let's start setting up camp.

>>>This is where gameplay will start for Level 2. There is a relatively small area to work with...a clearing in the forested area. You can use Real-Time Strategy options here...set up equipment, move units around, etc.
OBJECTIVE: Set up camp, acquire 2 new Journal entries.
After a little bit, some enemies will appear near the edge. These are a new species that you can name...they're blue winged creatures with fangs. They're weaker than the velociraptor species, but more agile.
Once you have the camp and all the equipment set up, you can use the Colonel to make basic commands to the entire unit as a whole. Suddenly, you get ambushed by a score of predatory creatures, including the first two species and a new one...a green catlike creature with stripes.
Once you defeat these enemies, you can explore the area...add Journal entries, etc. Then another score of enemies will appear. Afterwards, the following story sequence pops up.

Col. Marx: Whew! Who knew that setting up camp could be so much work? All right, I need two of you to scout the area for me. I want a digital map composed of the surrounding 5 square miles when you get back. Got it? Report to camp at 1200 hours. That gives you some time.

>>>You can select two people from the list just like before. For now, we'll say you select Bennet and Jiro.

Bennet: Ready to do my duty, Colonel! *belch*

Jiro: We will report back as ordered, sir.

>>>The two run off into a new area of the map. Now you can start exploring the area. As you walk around on the surrounding 5 square miles of jungle area, the map on your screen will be illuminated, as in Age of Empires.
OBJECTIVE: Illuminate entire map, acquire 5 new Journal entries, report back to camp.
This is the rest of the level for now. You can select the characters and have them walk around, study items, etc. Two new convincibles will be found...a red falcon, and a black scorpion the size of a motorcycle. A few landmarks will be named...there is a waterfall by a cliff to the northeast. You have the option to name landmarks as well, once you encounter them. There is a small gorge to the northwest. And to the southeast lies a small pool. At the north edge of your map, there is a red laser grid blocking you from passing (for game purposes).
After a while, you should complete your objective, while encountering enemies you've met before.

(It's evening now)

Col. Marx: Bennet! Jiro! Got the map yet?

Bennet: Sure have, sir. Whew! That took a while.

Jiro: We found some landmarks to help us remember this location.

Col. Marx: Good work. After this, we can send the majority of the exploration team further down into the crater. This starts tomorrow. Everyone will go except the drones, we'll call them if we need emergency backup. Now get some sleep. We'll all need it for the trek tomorrow.
